Bishop’s Study Day 2018

Saturday 15th September at St Luke's church Birchwood.

Bishop Nicholas led us on the theme of:

‘Telling the Story of God’s Love’

During the day we considered the preaching/

communicating the gospel aspect of our ministry.

The passage Bishop Nicholas has chosen for the day was

2 Corinthians chapters 3 and 4.

Session 1:  Exploring Voice. Reflecting on those who may have been our ‘preaching parents’ and using our own voice. Session 2:  Paul’s story of love, our story of love.  During this session we twice listened to a reading of 2 Cor. 3 & 4, before considering the texts and in what way it spoke to each of us. Session 3:  The Story of love we have to tell in the Diocese of Lincoln.  What are we trying to convince people of in our Diocese? Session 4:   Gathering the stories and weaving our response.  What is our experience of Reader ministry past, present and future? It was a thought provoking and challenging study day.  Thanks to Bishop Nicholas and Warden Sally Buck. Also our hosts at St Luke’s for the food and hospitality!
