Ascension Day 2016

It was good to see Readers from the Lincoln Diocese at the Service of Celebration at All Souls church, London on Ascension Day - accompanied by Bishop Nicholas. It was a full house on a hot sunny day (not often we have to ask for church windows to be opened!)The service was most uplifting and we raised the roof with our singing, led by excellent organ and brass accompaniment. (click opposite to view service booklet).I said to Bishop Robert Chairman of CRC: "You were really fired up in your sermon. Thank you!"The Duke of Edinburgh was on good form and as he passed by me at the end of the service, I heard him remark between the verses of our recessional hymn: "They are certainly in good voice!"Later when I was presented to the Duke as Chairman of the CRC website committee, he asked: "Are you also a Reader?" I replied "Yes Sir, I was licensed in 1993". "Where are you from?"I said: "Boston in Lincolnshire". He smiled and added:"Ah, we can wave to you across from Norfolk then!" John M.

A number of hand made chalices and patens were specially commissioned for use during the Eucharist. The Lincoln Readers Governing Body have purchased a set for our future use. If you wish to use at an Area Event - please contact Warden Sally.
